Thirty (30) Community Monitors (CMs) have been trained by CHAG under its Community-led Monitoring and Feedback Mechanism model of the CSS intervention.
Under the Global Fund’s New Funding Model 3 (NFM3) CHAG is focused on services delivered to persons living with and affected by HIV and TB. To realize the end goal of improved health outcomes, issues that affect care quality of health services and human rights, need to be deliberately reported, monitored, and appropriate feedback provided to inform improvement in the delivery of these services. It is therefore imperative to run a coordinated community-led monitoring mechanism to closely monitor service quality and incidence of human rights violations.
Monitors were selected from networks of PLHIV including YPLHIV or cured TB clients who are not existing cadres or TB Champions. The monitors will be required to perform data collection, analysis and facilitate and participate in information dissemination and advocacy efforts at all the levels.
Monitors were trained on the CLM model, skills for facilitating discussion with their peers, data collection, analysis and interpretation as well as advocacy skills.
They would on quarterly basis collect data at the community and facility levels on the issues of health service-related needs and challenges identified in the community dialogue sections using the agreed upon tools. They would also be supported by the CHAG M&E Team to perform analysis on the data collected using appropriate data capture, and data analysis software to manage the responses into useful information for further discussions with the facility and regional level committees for actions to be taken.
The monitors would be convened in the next two months to discuss the analysis of their data and learn presentation skills as they prepare to share insights from the analyzed data to district and regional CLM committees.
