Ghana Clubfoot Program Celebrates Young Champions at KATH Graduation Ceremony

Joy, laughter, and celebration filled the halls of Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) as the Ghana Clubfoot Program commemorated World Clubfoot Day 2026 with a special graduation ceremony for children who had successfully completed their clubfoot treatment journey.

Held under the theme “See Early, Treat Early, Run Free,” the event brought together children, caregivers, healthcare professionals, Parent Advisors, hospital management, and partners to celebrate the remarkable transformation of children who once faced the challenges of clubfoot but can now walk, run, play, and thrive.

The colorful ceremony created an atmosphere of hope and excitement as children proudly received certificates of graduation, balloons, and gift packages in recognition of their successful completion of treatment. Smiles lit up the room as families reflected on how far their children had come. For many caregivers, the occasion marked the successful conclusion of a journey that began with uncertainty, fear, and questions about their child’s future.

Speaking during the event, Mrs. Nana Afua Adutwumwaa Adjetey, Country Program Manager of the Ghana Clubfoot Program, congratulated the graduating children and their families for their resilience and commitment throughout the treatment process.

“Today is a celebration of resilience, commitment, and hope. Every child graduating from treatment represents a family that chose to believe in the possibility of a brighter future. Their success reminds us why early detection, timely treatment, and family support are so important. We celebrate not only the children but also the caregivers and healthcare teams who have walked this journey with them.”

The ceremony also provided an opportunity to recognize the invaluable contributions of the Physiotherapy Department and Orthopaedic Department of Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital. Through their dedication, expertise, and teamwork, children affected by clubfoot continue to receive quality care and the opportunity to live active and productive lives.

Special appreciation was extended to the management of Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital for their continued support and commitment to strengthening clubfoot services. Their leadership has helped create an enabling environment where children and families receive compassionate, family-centered, and high-quality care throughout their treatment journey.

Adding to the excitement of the celebration, Unilever Ghana supported the event through the donation of products including Pepsodent toothpaste, Geisha soap, OMO detergent, and Vaseline products. The gift packages presented to graduating children and their families brought smiles to many faces and demonstrated the important role corporate partners can play in supporting child health and family well-being.

The event featured inspiring caregiver testimonies, certificate presentations, entertainment, photography sessions, and a special cake-cutting ceremony to mark World Clubfoot Day 2026. Children danced, played, and celebrated alongside their families, creating unforgettable memories and showcasing the confidence that comes with successful treatment.

Implemented by the Christian Health Association of Ghana (CHAG) in partnership with Hope Walks, the Ghana Clubfoot Program remains committed to ensuring that every child born with clubfoot has access to timely, quality treatment and the opportunity to reach their full potential.

The KATH graduation ceremony was more than a celebration of completed treatment—it was a celebration of transformed lives, dedicated healthcare professionals, committed caregivers, strong partnerships, and brighter futures for children across Ghana.

Every graduate represented a story of hope restored, confidence renewed, and the life-changing impact of early intervention. Together, we continue to ensure that children born with clubfoot can walk, run, play, and dream without limitations.
