Nationwide Rollout of the the Government’s Free Primary Healthcare Gains Momentum within CHAG
The Christian Health Association of Ghana (CHAG) has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the government’s free primary healthcare initiative. As part of the nationwide rollout, CHAG facilities have been allocated equipment to facilitate smooth implementation of the program across the country. This strategic support ensures that healthcare delivery is strengthened and accessible to the public at both government and CHAG institutions.
The allocation ranges from medical supplies to operational resources such as hospital beds, delivery beds, fetoscopes, colposcopes, ultrasound scans, nebulizers, patient screens amongst others. The equipment support emphasis the government’s recognition of CHAG’s pivotal role in healthcare provision, particularly in underserved regions.
Facilities Benefiting from the Program
There are 127 CHAG institutions that have been allocated equipment and many have collected their consignments. On Friday August 28th, the following CHAG Church denominations collected the equipment for their respective facilities: Presbyterian Health Services, Methodist Health Services Trust, and facilities within the Catholic Health Service Trust.
The beneficiary facilities which are health centres, clinics, polyclinics, spread across different regions and 106 designated districts for the FPHC implementation, represent the diversity and reach of CHAG’s network. By equipping them with the necessary resources, the government is ensuring that the free primary healthcare program is not only launched but implemented effectively.
Strengthening Partnerships for Health Equity
CHAG’s involvement highlights the importance of partnerships in achieving universal health coverage. With over 370 healthcare facilities nationwide, CHAG has long been a trusted partner in delivering holistic health services, especially to marginalized and hard-to-reach communities. The logistics and equipment allocation strengthen the church-state partnership, aligning CHAG’s mission with the government’s vision of equitable healthcare access.
Impact on Communities
The rollout of free primary healthcare, supported by CHAG facilities, is expected to eliminate financial barriers to health services. Communities that previously struggled to access health services will now benefit from improved access to promotive and preventive care, and essential treatments. By leveraging CHAG’s extensive network, the program ensures that no region is left behind.
