SafeCare Assessors Renew Commitment to Quality and Patient Safety at the 2026 Assessor Refresher Training
Under the auspices of the Christian Health Association of Ghana (CHAG) in collaboration with PharmAccess Ghana, the 2026 Assessor Refresher Training was held on August 27 at the Assemblies of God Head Office Auditorium, Accra. The training brought together 43 Internationally Certified SafeCare Assessors from across the country for a day of learning, reflection, and experience sharing.
Held under the theme “Ownership for Quality: Driving Quality Improvement through SafeCare Assessments,” the training focused on strengthening Assessors’ technical competencies, promoting consistency in the application of SafeCare standards, and reinforcing the importance of objective, evidence-based assessments.
A Day of Learning and Renewal
The day featured welcome remarks and a message from Dr. James Duah, the Deputy Executive Director of CHAG, inspirational reflections from Assessors, and technical sessions covering updates on SafeCare processes, in-depth interpretation of SafeCare standards & data, and a refresher tour of SafeCare’s digital tools — equipping assessors with the latest knowledge and skills to carry out assessments with precision and confidence.
Beyond the formal sessions, the training created space for Assessors to share field experiences and the practical challenges they encounter during facility assessments and other quality improvement activities. These discussions highlighted the importance of the work of Assessors and urged them to go beyond identifying gaps in healthcare delivery to become impactful partners in the quality improvement journey of the healthcare facilities they serve.
Ownership at Every Level
The programme reaffirmed that, effective quality improvement requires ownership at every level — from Assessors and facility teams to management and other stakeholders. The meeting brought to fore that it is only when every party takes responsibility for the standards they uphold that healthcare facilities can achieve lasting and sustainable improvement.
Participants left the training with renewed knowledge, confidence, and commitment to supporting healthcare facilities across Ghana to achieve sustained improvements in quality and patient safety.
The CHAG-SafeCare Hub continues to work with healthcare facilities nationwide to strengthen quality standards and improve patient outcomes.
